Reflection
“Father, I put my life in your hands.” Luke 23:48
Jesus answered [Annas], “I have spoken publicly to the world. I have always taught in a synagogue or in the temple area where all the Jews gather, and in secret I have said nothing.” (John 18:20)
Of course I defended myself. I had nothing to hide. But they weren’t really looking for truth. It was an exercise in futility. I was trying to stay calm, but I was scared to death.
“Father, I put my life in your hands.” Luke 23:48
Pilate said to him, “Then you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.” (John 18:37)
I could tell Pilate was nervous when I talked about my kingdom, but he was afraid of the Jews who brought me before him. My fate was sealed; there was no backing down. I said I would do this.
“Father, I put my life in your hands.” Luke 23:46
Prayer
My biopsy revealed cancer.
Father, I put my life in your hands.
We got out of the house just before the water rushed in.
Father, I put my life in your hands.
We can’t afford the new insurance rates.
Father, I put my life in your hands.
Personal Challenge
I will imitate the Teacher and put my life in God’s hands.
