Scripture
Exultet
Lk. 24:1-12
Reflection
“Let earth be glad as glory fills her…let all corners of earth be glad,
knowing an end to gloom and darkness.
Let this holy building shake with joy. . . “ Exultet
“Why do you look for the living among the dead.
He is not here; he has risen.” Lk. 24:5-6
I remember when I really wanted something to happen. Desire consumed my days. Today I ask: Do I desire God (Love) to permeate the whole of my life, creation, its relationships, structures, policies and systems that much? I keep vigil with this desire, for here the Spirit of Love continues the evolutionary process of creation. May this desire become ravenous!
Tonight, as the fire transforms darkness and Love ignites the ashes of hearts, new insights and life quicken. With Resurrection eyes, we see candles announce Christ continuing the transformation of Resurrection. Every breath of New Life is shaking creation from atom to galaxy! Jesus’s Resurrection is God proclaiming that the whole story of creation, all living is not about death, gloom, and sadness. It is all about Resurrection! “Glory is filling the whole universe! Let her be glad!” “Let this holy building shake with joy…”(Exultet) We are all on our way! Let the Alleluias abound! God is populating Earth with Heaven (St. Ambrose) and we are privileged to partake.
Prayer
O Risen Christ, deepen our desire to keep vigil today. Let your
desire become ravenous in us. Open us to your Radiant Presence
in fire, water, oil, bread, wine and every creature and minute
of history. Transform gloom to dancing as we realize all of life is
about your Resurrection!
Personal Challenge
I will keep a Holy Vigil today with the desire to recognize your
Resurrected Presence filling every corner of Earth and history.
